Finisterra to Muxia, 25/9/2016

In the movie, "The Way", Ishmael, a gypsy, tells Martin Sheen's character, Tom, to spread his son Daniel's ashes in Muxia. Upon our arrival from Finisterra, the 4 of us visited the rocky area used in that scene. Muxia, like Finesterra, is a quiet, very peaceful town on the northwestern coast of Spain. It is amazing to realize that we're looking at the Atlantic Ocean in all of it's vastness and beauty.
We stayed in a wonderful hotel, Bela Muxia, and were assisted by Angel, the gentleman at the front desk. Our hotel was close to the coastline, and there were 2 Catholic churches proximate to where we were staying. We explored the town, and attempted to visit both churches, but neither was open while we were there. The church at the shore, Nuestra Senora de Barca, Our Lady of the Boat, has an interesting history. It is said that the Blessed Mother, riding in a stone boat powered by angels, appeared to St. James to encourage him to return to Jerusalem because his ministry had been successful.
As with everywhere else we enjoyed the local fare at sidewalk cafes and restaurants. We spent a lot of time at the area seen in the movie, "The Way", because it was mesmerizing to see the tides come in and crash against the rocks.
Upon our return to the hotel, we asked Angel about the bus schedule so that we could take a bus back to Santiago tomorrow. Angel offered to get us a cab that would take us all to Santiago for less than the cost of the bus, and significantly faster. We took him up on that!
