Day 2: Jesus, I trust in You!

Second day of camp began with a wonderful breakfast of pancakes and bacon. After breakfast Devin and David met with their small group, "Picture of a Cross" to learn the background of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and how to pray it.

The day was full of team building and trust activities. Before lunch, the small groups had Team Building Competition games: paintball, bubble soccer, life-size Hungry Hingry Hippos, Giant Games and disc golf. Their small group won points for winning paintball and disc golf. After team games, we had noon Mass, where we celebrated a Votive Mass for the Holy Eucharist

 .

In the afternoon we had Low Ropes. All the Low Ropes activities used a lot of trust and teamwork. Their team did the Mohawk Walk, which is an element with a wire 2 feet off the ground and their team had to get from Point A to Point B. If they fell off, they would have to start over from the beginning. Their group spent a long time on this element, but it helped them to learn how to work more as a team.

After the Mohawk Walk, they went to The Wall, David & Devin made it up the wall without fear, along with the rest of their teammates. I joined in the fun and climbed up the wall as well! The Whale Watch was their next element and then the Trust Fall. Devin & David did awesome on the Trust Fall, they trusted their teammates and adults with no problems!

The session on Tuesday night was on trust and faith. Jon used the visual of a glass of milk and chocolate syrup to demonstrate our faith life. He explained that when we are born we are the glass of milk and at Baptism we are filled with graces (the chocolate syrup), but it all falls to the bottom and sits there until we have a "big spoon moment." A big spoon moment is a time in your life where your faith is challenged or grows, such as their time this week, at Camp Savio. Their faith experiences cause the spoon to stir in the chocolate syrup, which mixes it altogether and changes the color of the milk. But when our faith isn't challenged or we are not learning more in our faith, the spoon stops stirring and the chocolate syrup falls back to the bottom until our next faith experience.

During our Parish Pow Wow, we talked about our "Highs and Lows" of the day, their favorite and least favorite parts of the day, their favorite parts were the low ropes courses and bubble soccer.
