Day 4: Forgiveness

Thursday: Forgiveness

Morning was a rough time for everyone to wake up as we are reaching the end of the week, everyone is pretty tired. After breakfast, Devin & David met again with their small group for prayer time, they learned about the history of the Rosary, how to pray it and they prayed it together as a small group.

After breakfast, we had a water game competition between the small groups. The games were water balloon sling shot, water kickball, water balloon battleship, slip n slide competition, and water balloon dodgball. Our team won the sling shot game and a round of dodgeball. Their favorite water game activity was the sling shot game. 3 people on their team held the sling shot and tried to hit their teammates on the other side of the field. They gained points for each person that was hit by the water balloon. For lunch we had a taco bar.

The afternoon was free time from 1:00-5:00 p.m. They were able to play gaga ball, bubble soccer, board games, crafts, disc golf, giant games, slip n slide and more during free time. Free time was a good, relaxing break for everyone. At 4:00 p.m. their small group had an hour for Adoration & Confession. Mass was at 5:15 p.m. Father Lickteig talked about our need to give up things we are attached to. He challenged us that as he elevated the Body of Christ during the Consecration, that we pray for God to take away those attachments from us.

Our session on Thursday was very, very powerful. The topic was on forgiveness. We started the night with a Minute to Win it game. Then Jon showed us a video on Confession. We talked about forgiveness of God through the Sacrament of Confession. We then talked about our need to forgive others and ask for forgiveness. Jon shared the conversion of Saul, who persecuted Christian and his conversion and forgivness to become Paul. We heard a testimony on forgiveness by Camp Director and St. Gabriel Youth Minister, Diane Pickert. We then received paper and a pen to write a letter to someone we needed to forgive or to ask forgiveness from. This activity impacted all of the campers, chaperones and staff. After the letters were written, we were able to lay the letters down at the foot of the Cross, trusting Jesus to take it and transform us. Instead of having small groups, we went straight to parish pow wows. That experience was much needed for our group and allowed for great discussion and prayer for our parish communities. Thursday's session will lead into a great session Friday night. Tune in tonight for live streaming of Adoration and Praise and Worship at 7:00 p.m. www.campsavio.com.
